Check Six – 1967: Hickam Beach

This photograph shows the view from the Hickam Beach, near the old Golden Anchor – now the Lanai at Mamala Bay. Diamond Head is at the horizon. The photograph is dated 1967.

The reef runway is not there. Construction of the Reef Runway was scheduled to begin in September 1972. During to legal injunctions and other challenges, it took until 1977 to complete the project. Read more

It remains a great beach and the view is still good.
