Taps: Daniel Akaka – A Great American

April 8, 2018

Daniel Kahikina Akaka passed away on April 6, 2018 at age 93. He was a educator who went on to serve the State of Hawaii in many positions. He later served as one of Hawaii’s senators who served from 1990 to 2013. He announced in 2011 that he would not seek reelection in 2012.

Senator Akaka was best known as an advocate for Native Hawaiians, but he was strong supporter of the military and veterans. Many Hawaii National Guard initiatives moved forward because of his continuing support.

Rest in Peace – Thank you for your service
