James S. Shigekane, Wing Vice Commander

Colonel James S. Shigekane became the Vice Commander of the 154th Wing on October 1, 2018.  He replaced Colonel Kurt Shigeta who retired.

Colonel Shigekane received his commission from the United States Air Force Academy in May 1992.  He completed pilot training at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi in 1993 and has served in a variety of operational and diplomatic assignments to include Commander, Cadet Squadron One, United States Air Force Academy, Colorado, the 62nd Airlift Wing Chief of Safety, Commander, 10th Airlift Squadron, and Deputy Operations Group Commander, McChord Air Force Base, Washington, and was the U.S. Air Attaché to the Kingdom of Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the European Union.

Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Shigekane served as the Director of Safety, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii.  Colonel Shigekane served over 25 years on Active Duty prior to entering the Air National Guard.
