Hawaii Police Department supervisor honored with Patriot Award

KOHALA, Hawaii – Police Capt. Albert Cortez, Hawaii Police Department supervisor, was presented with a Department of Defense Patriot Award June 5 in recognition of his continued support provided to his employee, Sgt. Justin Cabanting, Hawaii Army National Guard.  The award was presented by Hilo ESGR volunteer, Donna Shimizu.

Cabanting has been with the Hawaii Police Department for five years and is presently assigned to the Kohala station on the Big Island. Cabanting stated, “I appreciate the support Capt. Cortez provides to me when performing my military duties.  I also appreciate being able to serve with the Army National Guard and service my community as a first-responder.”
