Check Six: Old Friends from Maintenance – 14 years ago
This photograph shows two old friends from aircraft maintenance – Kyle Kamikawa and Gerald Gono. It was taken at the November 2004 UTA promotion ceremony for then-Col Peter “Skipper” Pawling.
Kyle and Gerald enlisted in the Hawaii Air National Guard after their high graduation in the late 1960s. Both served in the instrument/electric shop during the F-102 Delta Dagger era. During the F-4 Phantom era, the instrument/auto pilot shop became part of the Avionics Branch and the electric shop remained in the Field Maintenance Branch. They were part of a great maintenance technician force in the 154th Wing.
Kyle and Gerald were great individuals who served for 35+ years before their retirement.
