Check Six – 2005: Kathleen Berg Promoted to Brigadier General

This photograph shows Steven Kamaura, Kathleen Berg, and Stanley Gomes at the Hawaii State Capitol. On August 29, 2005, Kathleen Berg was promoted. to brigadier general, a first in the Hawaii Air National Guard.

Actual pinning ceremony was in the Governor’s Ceremonial Room in the Governor’s Office. Attending were Stephen Berg, the general’s husband, a retired HIANG officer who served with the then-169th Aircraft Control & Warning Squadron. Several of the general’s family members flew in from Illinois for attend the ceremony.

This photograph was taken at the reception that followed. Both Steven and Stan were chief master sergeants assigned to Hq, Hawaii Air National Guard and worked with the general for several years.
