Check Six: Old Hilo Airport – 90 years ago
On a site known as Keaukaha, the Hilo Airport is shown in 1929. Later in the year, Inter-Island Airways would start commercial service flying their Sikorsky S-38s. In 1943 the airport would be renamed as General Lyman Field (ITO) after the first U.S. General of Hawaiian ancestry. pic.twitter.com/DSbq0p9njF
