Before you meet with your tax professional or file your 2018 tax return, keep these things in mind:

7 Steps to Better Heart Health

From the U.S. News & World Report website

As the focus of health care increasingly shifts from acute, episodic care delivery – a visit to the doctor, clinic or hospital – over to daily wellness management for chronic conditions, patients and family members have become crucial partners in their own health care. Nowhere is this more important for millions of Americans than in the area of heart health.

Heart disease is the leading killer of both men and women in this country, and heart health has long been a major focus of the medical community. But these days, with nearly half of all American adults living with some form of cardiovascular disease, it is vital for all of us to understand what causes risks to heart health, how to minimize those risks and, once they’ve been diagnosed, how to manage chronic heart conditions day in and day out

As the station manager, he is responsible of Southwest operations in Honolulu. Initially, there will be 55 employees, moving toward 90 as they robust to full operations.

The photograph above commemorates the first Southwest aircraft landing in Honolulu on February 5, 2019. The flight was the first of several required Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) validation flights. In the photograph, Rob is kneeling, just above the employee laying on the tarmac.

Congratulation to Rob!

After completing a series of validation flights, Southwest received approval on February 28, 2019 from the Federal Aviation Administration to begin Hawaii operations. Southwest will initially fly its 175-seat Boeing 737-800 aircraft for Hawaii service.

An Associated Press article reported that Southwest will announce timing for selling tickets and beginning flights in the coming days. Southwest plans to launch flights to four Hawaii airports (Honolulu, Kahului, Lihue and Kona) from four in California (Oakland, Sacramento, San Diego and San Jose).

How Changes in Income Affect Medicare Premiums

From the Kiplinger website

It’s likely you are receiving the extra bill because you’re now subject to the Medicare high-income surcharge, officially called the Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount (IRMAA). If this is the case, your bill will say “IRMAA.” You have to pay this surcharge if your modified adjusted gross income, plus tax-exempt interest income, was higher than $85,000 if you’re single or $170,000 if married filing jointly on your last tax return on file (usually 2017 for 2019 premiums).

Off Track: The Travel List Challenge’s 100 Places to Visit Before You Die

From the List Challenges website

The first List Challenge I took was the Travel List Challenge via Facebook, consisting of 100 popular tourist destinations. However, a list containing those 100 places was not on the List Challenges website…. until now. Granted the list skews American a bit, but so does Facebook, and so does the internet for that matter.

Desert Storm memorial marks an ‘atonement’ for Vietnam War mistakes

From the Military Times website

Though separated by a few hundred yards, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and the recently dedicated site of the future National Desert Storm and Desert Shield War Memorial are “inextricably” linked.

That was a message echoed by speakers at the Tuesday dedication ceremony of the patch of land within sight of the Lincoln Memorial and the Wall.

Retired Air Force Gen. Charles Albert “Chuck” Horner struck at a question that supporters have encountered since inspiration to undertake the project began in 2010 — why build a monument to such a short conflict?
