Arizona Guard suspends 9 officials amid financial probe

The Arizona National Guard has suspended nine top finance officials for the past month amid an investigation of “accounting irregularities” and “potential wrongdoing” related to multimillion-dollar funds, according to state military authorities.

Capt. Matt Murphy, the Guard’s public affairs officer, said investigators are looking at the U.S. Property Financial Office, an oversight arm within the Arizona Department of Emergency Services and Military Affairs. USPFO, under direction of the National Guard Bureau, is responsible for the integrity of hundreds of millions of dollars in property and assets statewide.
