Cholesterol Checks 101

cholesterol chartAll adults should know their lipid levels — that is, the levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in their blood.

High cholesterol is a known risk factor for heart disease. To properly assess their risk, adults should get cholesterol checks once every five years starting at age 20, according to the National Institutes of Health’s National Cholesterol Education Program guidelines.
