salmonOmega-3 fatty acids, the “good fat” found in fish like salmon, tuna, mackerel, and sardines, can help lower your risk of dying, according to a 2013 study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine. Researchers from the Harvard School of Public Health found that people with high levels of omega-3 fatty acids in their blood — levels maintained by eating fish at least twice per week — lived for 2.2 years longer, on average, than people with low levels of omega-3s.
