Hepatitis A Information

August 4, 2016

HepatitisThe current outbreak is large, the largest in recent Hawaii history. It is likely to continue touching people until the source is identified. The long incubation time (period between exposure and onset of signs and symptoms) is very long – often weeks. That fact complicates disease investigation and control.

In most cases, these outbreaks resolve without anyone ever identifying the source.  It’s a difficult problem for the Hawaii Department of Health.
