Causes of High Blood Pressure
It’s not known exactly what causes most cases of high blood pressure. There are two types of high blood pressure: primary (also called essential) hypertension and secondary hypertension.
Primary hypertension tends to develop gradually over a long period of time.
When high blood pressure arises suddenly and is a caused by an underlying condition, it’s called secondary hypertension. Some conditions and medications can lead to secondary hypertension, including the following:
