Volunteer Mentors Needed for Hawaii Veterans Treatment Court

March 3, 2018

The Hawaii Veterans Treatment Court is seeking out Mentors to help out our Veterans in the Court. The Veterans (called Mentees) in the program are partnered with a Veteran Mentor and agrees to abide by a 4-Phase program that takes 18-24 months to complete. The Mentor provides social support and guidance throughout the program. Treatment is the focus, rather than punishment. And progress and compliance is monitored throughout the program. If the Veteran completes the program and graduates, the charges against him are dismissed.

The first Hawaii Veterans Treatment Court Graduation took place in April 2015. There are currently more than 220 Veteran Treatment Courts nationwide including the ones in Honolulu, Kona, Hilo, Maui, and Kauai.

This is an extremely rewarding way to give back to the community! Anyone interested, is asked to please contact Tim Fujino for more information – Cell (808) 342-4207 or e-mail: Timothy.H.Fujino.ctr@mail.mil
