Insurance During Hurricanes. During one of last summer’s hurricanes, your webmaster’s new car arrived. The dealership called and said the car was ready for pickup.

However, we could not pick up the car because our insurance agent could not add the new car to our existing policy.

It seems many insurance companies stop issuing new policies or amending any existing policies when there is a hurricane warning in effect. This includes car, homeowners, hurricane, and other types of insurance.

Car Recalls: While there was a lot of coverage of the Takata airbags, automobile manufacturers continue to issue more recalls for both American and foreign vehicles. An earlier Retiree News post covered recalls and had a link to the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA) website.
