Off Track: The Stories Behind America’s Corporate Logos

From the 24/7 Wall Street website

Humans have always communicated in visuals, from ancient cave drawings to marking a nation’s coins with symbols of that country. As commerce began, signs were used by businesses and guilds to identify them.

Corporate logos really began to take off in the 19th century, along with the rapid ascent of industrialism, consumerism, and global trade. Companies that still use logos created in the late 1800s include Twinings Tea, Prudential, Levi Strauss & Co., and Heinz. Other logos, like the ones for Shell Oil and Ford Motor Company date back to the early years of their respective industries.

Today, company logos are everywhere, some with interesting features or colorful histories. The FedEx logo, for example, features an arrow that is cleverly hidden in plain sight, meant to symbolize the delivery company’s logistics speed and accuracy.

The following are 20 well-known corporate logos and their meanings and back stories.

Heart Attack Symptoms

From the Everyday Health website

Heart attack symptoms vary in both type and severity.

Your symptoms may be mild and come on slowly over the course of several hours, or they may be sudden and intense.

Chest pain or pressure, in particular, can develop gradually and come and go, often getting worse with exertion and better with rest. While chest pain may be the most common heart attack symptom, not all people experience chest pain during a heart attack.

According to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, there’s evidence that about one-third of people with heart attacks experience no chest pain. People with diabetes and older adults are more likely to experience a heart attack without chest pain.

Heart attack symptoms in men and women are often different.

While the range of symptoms varies, the more symptoms you have, the more likely it is that you’re having a heart attack.

If you think you may be having a heart attack, it’s important to take action immediately. This means, above all, calling for emergency help.

Depending on your doctor’s instructions, you may also benefit from taking aspirin or other drugs that your doctor has prescribed.

TRICARE Webinar on TRICARE For Life Coverage

Due to an overwhelming response, a second webinar will take place on July 18, from 1 to 2 p.m. ET. Registration for the July 18 webinar will open soon.

Do you have questions about TRICARE For Life (TFL)? Not sure if you have to enroll in TFL, or when you become eligible for TFL coverage? Are you getting ready to turn 65? Join the “Understanding How TRICARE For Live Coverage Works” webinar on June 27, from 1 to 2 p.m. ET.

The webinar will discuss TFL eligibility, signing up for Medicare, how to get care, and much more. The TFL program manager will provide detailed information about TFL and answer your questions.

TFL is for TRICARE beneficiaries who are entitled to Medicare Part A and have Medicare Part B. This is regardless of your age or place of residence. Once you have both Medicare Part A and Part B, you automatically receive TRICARE benefits under TFL. However, you must be a TRICARE-eligible beneficiary. “Keeping your information up to date in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting SystemClick to close (DEERS) A database of information on uniformed services members (sponsors), U.S.-sponsored foreign military, DoD and uniformed services civilians, other personnel as directed by the DoD, and their family members. But you can become eligible for Medicare before age 65 if you have:

A severe illness, injury, or disability

End-stage renal disease (permanent kidney failure)

Lou Gehrig’s disease

Mesothelioma (certain cases)

Join the webinar to learn about Medicare eligibility at age 65 and before age 65.

As stated in the TRICARE For Life Handbook, “TFL and Medicare cover proven, medically necessaryClick to closeTo be medically necessary means it is appropriate, reasonable, and adequate for your condition. and appropriate care.” You can check out the handbook for information, including answers to frequently asked questions about TFL and Medicare.
