Discounts: Depot and Lowes

April 26, 2014

Both Home Depot and Lowes are stanch supporters of veterans, military members and retirees. However, as the following article discussed, there seems to be some confusion as to the conditions of these discounts.

So we have been hearing that there seems to be a lot of confusion concerning Military discounts offered by Home Depot and Lowe’s. Seems you ask two people and you will get two different answers to the question. So we did a little research and found out that not only are patrons confused, but even the store personnel are sometimes confused by the policy.

From what we have been told Home Depot’s policy for Military discounts are as follows:

The challenge for Hawai‘i veterans who are not retirees (and not having a military ID) will end very shortly. Act 006 of the 2014 Legislature allows the placement of “Veteran” on Hawai‘i driver’s licenses. This new options will start October 1, 2014. The Department of Motor Vehicles will develop procedures for the validation of veteran’s status prior to the October implementation date.

Special thanks goes to State Representative Mark Takai and 15 co-sponsors who introduced House Bill 1770, which became Act 006 of the 2014 State Legislature. For more information about the bill

Special thanks for several Retiree News readers who forwarded this article
