Off Track: Aloha Week Floral Parade

Tomorrow, there will be the 71st Annual Aloha Week Floral parade. The parade starts at 9:00 am at Ala Moana Park and proceeds down Kalākaua Avenue to Kapi‘olani Park.
The parade route comes alive with a colorful procession of female and male pau horseback riders, floats covered with Hawaiian flowers, Hawaiian music, hula halau and local marching bands.

In a recent Hawaiian Electric post on their Twitter account was a short video of an Aloha Week parade in the 1960s. A far cry from current parade floats, but the Aloha is there.
