Check Six: Lloyd and Joan Osborne and the Flagpole

Lloyd Osborne, was a retired Navy Captain, a decorated naval aviator, longtime Hawai’i business executive, and champion masters swimmer. He started the Hawaiian Air Transport Service (HATS) in 1946. He later became the first general manager Ala Moana Center.
Joan was a Dowsett and a direct descendant of Gerrit Parmele Judd. she was also a master swimmer and she played an important part in establishing Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park in Kona.
The family’s aviation tradition continued with their son, Gerrit “Oz” Osborne, who flew for many years with 199th Fighter Squadron, Hawaii Air National Guard.
