Check Six – 2001: Old Friends from Maintenance

Doug Awana send Retiree News this photograph as he was securing some boxes during his family’s Hurricane Lane preparations.

The photograph shows three veteran members of the 154th Wing’s maintenance team. From left to right: then-SMSgt Douglas Awana, MSgt James Akau, then-MSgt Craig Harimoto. It was taken at the NCO Academy Graduate Association Seminar 33, Reno, Nevada on  July 26, 2001.

Both Doug and Craig retired as chief master sergeants after serving long technician careers. Jimmy, a Traditional Guardmember, retired as a master sergeant. In civilian life, he served with the Honolulu Fire Department.
