Online misinformation is a serious threat, from fake cures for COVID-19 to false information on voting eligibility.
Seniors are especially at risk. People over 65 were more likely to share false or misleading content on Facebook during the 2016 presidential campaign, according to one study from researchers at Princeton and New York University. Older adults were also exposed to more misinformation on Twitter during that election.
Seniors should learn about avoiding misinformation — to protect themselves, and because they are civically active. Over half of poll workers were ages 61 and older in the 2018 U.S. general election, according to Pew Research Center. And older voters in the U.S. are also consistently more likely to vote than younger groups.

Now a team of researchers has uncovered a potential key reason these actions are so beneficial: they influence our genes.

The 154th Mission Support Group hosted a going-away party for the commander, then Col Edwin “Skip” Vincent. Skip was moving to a position at then-U.S. Pacific Command, where he was later promoted to brigadier general.

Frustrated over a lack of community support for a proposed gun range, the executive director of Joint Base Cape Cod, Massachusetts, emailed the local chamber of commerce last week, threatening to prevent his soldiers from patronizing area businesses.
Retired Brig. Gen. Christopher Faux threatened a “conditional confinement” for thousands of troops in an email to Chris Adams, chief of staff of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce.

What do I need to know about international air travel
at this stage of pandemic?
First of all, you have plenty of company. International air travel is expected to surge this summer. Americans are thinking of European vacations again. “We’ve had people asking a lot about Europe,” says Chicago-area travel adviser Kendra Thornton of Royal Travel & Tours. “Not necessarily booking but wanting to keep tabs on it.”
In addition, residents of the U.S. with family members in other countries are eager for a reunion after pandemic-enforced separations. People may be traveling abroad for work as well.
They’ll run into quite a range of travel restrictions and entry requirements.

Former Hawaii Air National Guard member Christopher “Frenchy” Faurot was promoted to brigadier general and assumed command of the Guam Air National Guard. Frenchy became a fighter pilot with the 199th Fighter Squadron during the F-15 Eagle era. He went on to serve in several command and staff positions in the HIANG and later, Pacific Air Forces.
