A good medical alert system is an effective and affordable tool that can help keep your mom safe and living in her own home longer. But with all the different products and features available today, choosing one can be challenging. Here are some tips that can help.

Medical alert systems, which have been around since the 1980s, provide a wearable help button — usually in the form of a neck pendant or wristband — that would put your mom in touch with a dispatcher who could summon emergency help or contact a friend or family member as needed.

The National Guard Bureau extended Federal Recognition to the Hawaii Air National Guard on November 4, 1946. Th initial operating location was Bellows AFB in Waimanalo.

The 199th Fighter Squadron and associated units relocated to Area 65 of Hickam AFB on May 6, 1947. Supply support included a truck designated the “Red Ball” which delivered parts directly to the flightline. Equipment was limited as this truck still had Navy markings. Unit startups always included a lot scrounged equipment and parts.

Hickam Commissary will be closed on February 24th & 25th due to inventory. The commissary will reopen on Thursday, February 26th, with normal business hours, from 0900-2000. 

Pearl Harbor, Schofield and Kaneohe Commissaries will be open during this time.

Space Force Looking at Reserve Plan

Space Force leaders are considering a plan that would combine aspects of active-component and reserve service, according to reports. The plan would also include a separate Space Guard.

Lt. Gen. Nina Armagno, the staff director at Space Force headquarters, outlined those plans during a Space Foundation event earlier this month, according to Air Force Magazine.

“We’re actually working on a dual componency, where instead of having active, Guard and Reserve, we have a combined active and reserve force, and then potentially a separate Space Guard,” she said. “We’re really working on trying to figure out how to recruit the best and retain the best.”
