Zoom Finally Has End-to-End Encryption. Here’s How to Use It

From the Wired Magazine website

You can lock down your meetings like never before—even if you have to give up a few features to do so.

Zoom has gone from startup to verb in record time, by now the de facto video call service for work-from-home meetings and cross-country happy hours alike. But while there was already plenty you could do to keep your Zoom sessions private and secure, the startup has until now lacked the most important ingredient in a truly safe online interaction: end-to-end encryption.

Here’s how to use it, now that you can, and why in many cases you may not actually want to.

Thinking About a Holiday Gathering? Look at This Troubling Map First

From the article

From the Wired Magazine website

No to nag, but if you’re considering seeing family for the holidays, I need you to take a look at this map

It’s a color-coded guide to Covid-19 risk level, sorted by geography (at the US county level) and crowd size. First, you choose the location where the gathering would happen. Then, at left, you can choose an event size with the slider, from 10 to 5,000 people, and watch the risk of at least one Covid-positive person being there skyrocket the bigger the gathering gets. In some locations where the virus is spreading out of control, like in parts of the Dakotas, that chance is darn near 100 percent, even if the gathering is just 10 people. Get any bigger than 10 people, and the map spits out odds calling it a virtual certainty in many places that you’ll be sharing space with a sick person.

Hawaii is better off than most locations in the United States. But we must continue to be vigilant and limit our Thanksgiving gatherings.

Protect Your Wealth with Smart Risk Management Strategies

Off the Smart Procurement & Logistics website

From the Kiplinger website

Risk management is planning for the “what if” scenarios that no one wants to occur. What if I become disabled? What if I am subject to a lawsuit? What if I pass away prematurely? These unfortunate scenarios could have a significant negative impact on your family’s financial security.

The hope is that these scenarios never occur, but there are no guarantees they won’t — so planning should be done to protect your financial security if they do. The type and extent of risk management planning, like other areas of wealth planning, depends on your current situation.
