You’ve bought your plane tickets, booked your Airbnb, stocked up on tiny shampoo bottles. The only thing separating you from that summer jaunt to Mexico or the Bahamas or the south of France is the plane ride, and setting up your phone to come along with you.
Sure, vacation should be the time to power down, disconnect, and focus on the people in front of you. But that doesn’t mean giving up the option of getting directions from Google Maps or documenting your exotic meal on Instagram. Using your phone abroad used to be complicated, expensive, or both, but it’s getting easier and easier.

We’ve rounded up our favorite old-school cheeseburgers at local diners, drive-ins and yes, dives — all of them $4 or under.
I’ll admit, when it comes to cheeseburgers, I’m purely a fast-food chain specialist. So in the spirit of supporting local, I set out on a quest. After this briefest glimpse below of four cheeseburgers in one night in one stomach, you’ll find Our Top 6 in no particular order, except that my pick is at the very end.
Our world is made up of two groups of people – those who have Alzheimer’s and the rest who know someone with Alzheimer’s
From the Kaiser Health News website
Alzheimer’s disease has an unusual distinction: It’s the illness that Americans fear most — more than cancer, stroke or heart disease.
The rhetoric surrounding Alzheimer’s reflects this. People “fade away” and are tragically “robbed of their identities” as this incurable condition progresses, we’re told time and again.
Yet, a sizable body of research suggests this Alzheimer’s narrative is mistaken. It finds that people with Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia retain a sense of self and have a positive quality of life, overall, until the illness’s final stages.

For years automakers and hackers have known about a clever attack that spoofs the signal from a wireless car key fob to open a vehicle’s doors, and even drive it away. But even after repeated demonstrations—and real thefts—the technique still works on a number of models.

Military service comes with a lot of rough deals and uneven trade-offs, and while there are occasional perks while you’re in, they tend to drop off once you get out. But now there’s some good news for vets: Lowe’s has expanded its military discount to include honorably discharged military veterans and retirees.

Dying was less complicated 20 years ago.
Upon the death of a loved one, a family would obtain a stack of death certificates and get in touch with banks, insurance agents and the Social Security Administration. After all that was completed, survivors could begin to put together the financial pieces and move on with their lives.
Today, we live digital lives which are chock-full of usernames, passwords and security-question answers. Because of this, we leave our survivors in a terrible position upon our deaths.

Doctors have been measuring patients’ blood pressure, the force that blood exerts on the inside walls of your vessels — since the first sphygmomanometers (yes, that’s what blood pressure cuffs are called) were invented at the beginning of the 20th century.
Doctors are still finding new ways to glean information about your health from these numbers. British researchers recently found differences in blood pressure between the right and left arms might be a sign of vascular disease. Likewise, a difference in blood pressure when you’re lying down vs. standing up may indicate heart problems or blood vessel disease. Doctors can tell that from a painless test that takes only a few minutes.
