Retiree News asked Randall Lum to comment on this photograph:
This would have been a November 16 (King Kalakaua’s Birthday) posting of the Guard at ‘Iolani Palace. The photograph shows Luna Koa (1st Lt) Harry Awana reporting to Princess Abigail Kawānanakoa. The princess did many inspections of the Royal Guard over the years.
To Harry’s right is Luna Nela (2nd Lt) Charles Yabui. The individual carrying the America flag is not identifiable. The two Royal Guard members in the back row are Norman Kawamoto and James Pahukula.
Harry became the Kapen Moku (Captain) shortly after this ceremony.

If you’re age 62 or older and are still raising young children, there’s a Social Security benefit strategy that can put some extra money in your family coffers.
Here’s how it works. When you file for Social Security retirement benefits, your minor children can get money on your work record equaling half of what you would receive at full retirement age, now gradually rising from 66 to 67. Even if you were to take a smaller benefit by claiming earlier, your kids will still get half of your full-retirement age amount.
The CARES Act and the COVID-Related Tax Relief Act, which were both enacted last year, included several tax breaks to help Americans battered by the pandemic. Now it’s time to fill out your 2020 tax return by the May 17 deadline to claim what you’re due. (The deadline was previously April 15 but was delayed because of the pandemic.)
This year’s tax return may be different because of the new tax breaks. For many seniors, the changes for charitable giving, required minimum distributions and the new Recovery Rebate Credit deserve the most attention, according to Letha McDowell, president-elect of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.

At first glance, the fighter jet that touched down at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida, March 11 looked like the hundreds of other F-15s in the Air Force fleet.
But this plane, which made its maiden voyage a little more than a month before, represents the future for several Air National Guard flying wings.
The F-15EX is a modern cousin to the aging F-15C/D Eagles operated by six Air Guard units. The first of those to receive the new aircraft will be Oregon’s 173rd Fighter Wing, home of the Air Force’s only F-15 schoolhouse.
The 173rd, based at Kingsley Field Air National Guard Base in Klamath Falls, Oregon, will begin their transition to the new plane in 2024. Their sister unit in the Oregon Air Guard, the 142nd Fighter Wing based at Portland Air National Guard Base, will receive their first F-15EX in 2025 and is set to be the Air Force’s first operational F-15EX unit.

But what price do we pay for the ease they offer?
Recently Apple updated their privacy policy, giving us more information on how different apps use our data and more clarity on where our information goes.
We’re experts in online privacy, so we looked at the concerns surrounding mobile apps, working out which ones require the most information in exchange for using them.
