Check Six: Three HIANG Commanders Dressed Up

Personal photograph used with permission

In November, Retiree News featured a post about an Academy of Military Science (AMS) graduation in 2003. It was a special event because the commissioning class included seven Hawaii Air National Guard members.

There was a HIANG KC-135 Stratotanker mission to the area that allowed several Guardmembers to fly to Knoxville, Tennessee for the graduation ceremony. The night before graduation, where is a formal dinner where performance awards were presented.

Three HIANG unit commanders attended that dinner – Galen Yoshimoto (the then-154th Mission Support Flight), Basil Marcus Badley (the then-154th Communications Flight), and David Molinaro (154th Logistics Readiness Squadron).

4 Car Safety Features Worth the Cost

From the nextavenue website

Several years ago, I donned a customized suit designed to limit my movements and mobility, pretending to be an older driver for a Next Avenue article. Now that I’m in my 70s, I’m no longer pretending. So, I’ve been researching the safety features older car buyers should consider and will share what I’ve learned below.

What stuck with me over the years, since pretending to be an older driver, is that physical limitations meant reaction time can be seriously compromised. This can make an older driver a potential danger to himself or herself, to passengers and to other nearby drivers and pedestrians.

6 Foods Every Man Over 50 Should Avoid Eating — and Why

From the Everyday Health website

Nutrition experts hesitate to call any food ”forbidden,” reasoning that it’s okay to eat all foods in moderation, with an occasional ”treat” of less-than-healthy fare. Still, some foods do merit a spot on the ”worst foods for your health” list for men over 50.

Why that age 50 cutoff? Because, as Cleveland Clinic experts explain, one way to cut the risk of medical conditions that are more common in older men, such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure, is to cut back on foods high in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt, and added sugars.

We asked experts to tell us about those “worst foods,” and explain what to eat instead. Here are their answers:
