This undated photograph show the Honolulu Airport and Hickam AFB complex. It was probably taken in the late 1940s.
The terminal area was located next to Runways 22 R/L. The facilities were temporary buildings built by the Navy in the 1940s. The current Daniel Inouye International Airport went into service in 1962. Expansion construction continued into the 1970s.
You can see that Runway 8/26 does not extend into Hickam AFB. The Air Force completed its section of 5,417 feet of runway joining with 7,650 feet of HNL runway to form a continuous runway of 13,067 feet for instrument Runway 8-26 in May 1951.
Mission from the photograph is the Mamala Bay Gold Course. Construction on the military course took 18 months and opened in 1965.

Systolic heart failure is a type of left-sided heart failure, otherwise known as left-ventricle heart failure. Systolic heart failure means that the heart does not pump efficiently, and does not contract the way it should between heartbeats.
There are two types of left-ventricle heart failure. These are systolic and diastolic heart failure. Both of these types can eventually lead to right-ventricle heart failure.
However, there are differences between systolic and diastolic heart failure.
Though treatment for systolic heart failure is available, there is no known cure.
Read on to learn more about preventing, diagnosing, and treating systolic heart failure.

Before the pandemic, a scratchy throat and stuffy nose were nothing to get alarmed about. Most of us experiencing these symptoms could assume we had a cold and power through.
In the era of COVID-19, however, these symptoms can bring on a whole new level of anxiety. “There’s a tremendous amount of overlap between symptoms of a cold, the flu, and COVID-19,” says Jeffrey Loria, MD, an internist in New York City.

Diastolic heart failure involves the left side of the heart. It causes a stiff left ventricle that prevents the heart from relaxing between beats. This means that the heart can’t pump an adequate amount of blood throughout the body or has to pump with increased pressure.
Both systolic and diastolic heart failure involve the left side of the heart. Both types of heart failure can eventually lead to right-ventricle heart failure over time.
However, there are important differences between the two. For example, with systolic heart failure, the left ventricle becomes weak and flaccid. With diastolic heart failure, the left ventricle bulks and hardens.
There are many symptoms, causes, and treatments for this high-mortality condition. Read on to learn more about diastolic heart failure.

Heart disease refers to several conditions that affect a person’s heart and cardiovascular system. Types of heart disease include coronary artery disease (CAD), arrhythmia, heart valve disease, and heart failure.
CAD is the most common type of heart disease in the United States. It occurs when plaque builds up on the walls of the arteries. The plaque buildup reduces blood flow to the heart and can lead to heart attack.
