Their findings may shed light on why studies often contradict one another, with some finding that people who drink lots of diet drinks are more likely to be obese, with others finding they may help people keep weight off.

Do you keep hearing about “the cloud” but aren’t sure what it is? Read on.
The cloud, simply, refers to software and services that run on the Internet instead of your computer. Apple iCloud, Dropbox, Netflix, Amazon Cloud Drive, Flickr, Google Drive, Microsoft Office 365, Yahoo Mail — those are all cloud services.
There are many advantages to using the cloud. Since the videos, photos, documents, games and other software that lives in the cloud are available on any device with an Internet connection, you can access your stuff from anywhere.

Carswell Ross, a retiree Hawai‘i Air National Guard Chief Master Sergeant, continues to serve as a member of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP). He sent this information about the Wreaths Across America and the fundraiser the CAP is conducting.
Greetings Fellow Veterans and Family members of Veterans:
The 66th Composite Squadron Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam has an awesome opportunity to participate in a fundraiser that also gives back to our community.
We are looking for sponsors for wreaths to be placed at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, better known as Punchbowl on December 13th. Sponsorships will be taken until the Monday after Thanksgiving (which is December 1, 2014).
For every wreath sponsored, the squadron receives $5. Please share this information with your friends and individuals who have a family resting at Punchbowl. There are proximately 34,000 graves at there and it would be awesome to get them all covered!
A reminder, wreaths can be sent to other locations. Please go the website and learn more about the Wreaths Across America project. http://tinyurl.com/nx8b58j

When Home Depot confirmed that its in-store payments systems were hacked, the one juicy morsel it didn’t disclose was how many people may have been affected. Well, the company finally patched the issue and fessed up: some 56 million payment cards are at risk, so please keep an eye on your statements if you’ve shopped at a North American Home Depot between April and September.
Just to put this whole thing into perspective, remember the gigantic data breach that Target got slammed with over the holidays? That time only (!) 40 million credit and debit cards were at risk, though millions more customers may have had other personal information compromised.
The culprit in both cases was a bit of malware that had been introduced to the companies’ payment systems, but despite earlier reports that the two strains were related, Home Depot says the stuff that hit it “had not been seen previously in other attacks”.

President Obama’s push to hire military veterans for jobs across the government is fueling resentment in federal offices, as longtime civil servants and former troops on the other side of the cubicle increasingly question each other’s competence and qualifications.
With veterans moving to the head of the hiring queue in the biggest numbers in a generation, there’s growing bitterness on both sides, according to dozens of interviews with federal employees.
Those who did not serve in the military bristle at times at the preferential hiring of veterans and accuse them of a blind deference to authority. The veterans chafe at what they say is a condescending view of their skills and experience and accuse many non-veterans of lacking a work ethic and sense of mission.
