Everyone needs to be on high alert during viral outbreaks like with the new coronavirus, and that goes double for people with underlying conditions, especially heart disease.
The virus that causes COVID-19 is closely related to the SARS and MERS viruses that have caused past pandemics. Although it has caused more fatalities than its cousins, the mortality rate for COVID-19 in the general population is still considered to be low, likely even less than the current estimate of 3 to 4 percentaccording to the World Health Organization (WHO). However, that rate jumps to 10.5 percent for people who have cardiovascular disease, according to a bulletin released by the American College of Cardiology (ACC).

While there are numerous options for dinner buffets in Waikiki, brunch is special. I love brunch and variety, so the bigger the spread, the better. Large dessert bar with unique sweets? Check. Bountiful seafood assortment? Check. A mouthwatering selection of eggs bennies, bacon and pancakes? Check, check and check.
Brunch buffets usually warrant a special occasion, but they can also be a luxe way to celebrate the weekend. So whether you’re staycationing or want to celebrate your birthday in a bougie way, here are the best brunch buffets on Oahu.

Have you ever heard reference to the “Patriot Express,” “military rotator,” or “Cat B flight” and wondered what it was? It’s one of many possible aircraft you may take when using Space-A military flights. Some seasoned Space-A travelers would argue that there’s no better way to fly!
The Patriot Express (PE) is a commercial charter flight contracted by the Department of Defense to transport passengers on official military duty and their families. As with other Space-A flights, extra seats on the PE may be available for non-duty passengers after all space-required passengers have been accommodated. If you are new to Space-A flying, read this Quickstart Guide first to get a basic understanding of how Space-A works.
Here’s what else Space-A passengers flying on a PE should know.

The Hawaii State Department of Health updated their COVID-19: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs). There is an enormous amount of COVID-19 information on television, radio, social media and in print. Most of information is good, some of it out of date, and a few just incorrect.
The link below takes to the March 12, 2020 Department of Health’s FAQs on COVID-19. It is a summary of information that directly impact the residents of Hawaii. The current situation is rapidly changing, and this information will evolve as the virus potentially spread.
Thanks again to Fred Hyun for sharing this information.

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is now the center of the world stage. The outbreak started in China in December and has spread worldwide with devastating consequences. There is a Presidential proclamation restricting travelers from several countries. Major sports has cancelled seasons, playing events without spectators, or delayed scheduled events.
Locally, the Governor has issued a emergency proclamation. Cancellations include several annual cultural events, including the Merry Monarch Festival. All high school sports are on hold.
Many organizations local and nationally, like Office Depot, Hawaiian Airlines, the Navy Exchange, Ala Moana Center, are sending email describing what they are doing internally and externally to combat COVID-19.
Reading the reactions to COVID-19, Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors put it best:
Don’t know what to compare this situation to … just gotta buckle up and take care of yourself and those around you.

Until further notice, all persons seeking access to Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam (JBPHH) are required to physically present their ID cards to the Gate Sentry, front side first and then back side with the barcode facing the Gate Sentry, allowing the barcode to be scanned.
While you hold your ID card, Gate Sentries will scan your ID card with a DBIDS scanner and confirm access to the installation.
Your assistance and patience are greatly appreciated! Mahalo
Currently there is no information if Army and Marine Corps facilities are implementing similar procedures

Over the past few years, owners of cars with keyless start systems have learned to worry about so-called relay attacks, in which hackers exploit radio-enabled keys to steal vehicles without leaving a trace. Now it turns out that many millions of other cars that use chip-enabled mechanical keys are also vulnerable to high-tech theft. A few cryptographic flaws combined with a little old-fashioned hot-wiring—or even a well-placed screwdriver—lets hackers clone those keys and drive away in seconds.
